Konawaena boys basketball team capped off an impressive week Saturday night with a 46-27 victory against Hawaii Prep in Kealakekua.

The Wildcats (7-1) can clinch a spot at the BIIF Division I tournament by winning any of its four remaining regular season games. On Wednesday, Konawaena tripped Kamehameha 62-41.

Ka Makani (4-2) lost their second game in a row, and fell a half game behind Honokaa for first place in Division II. HPA visits the Dragons on Monday night.

Hilo 55, Kohala 50: Lawrence Padasdao scored 18 points and pulled down five rebounds and Josh Breitbarth added 15 to rally the Vikings (4-5) past the Cowboys on the road.

Hilo leads Kealakehe by half a game for the fourth and final playoff spot and has a more favorable schedule. The Waveriders still must face Konawaena.

Kohala got a well-rounded 10-points, four-rebound, two-assist game out of Kainalu Emeliano-Solomon, but it wasn’t enough as Kohala (3-6) fell 1 1/2 games behind Pahoa for the final playoff spot in Division II.

Pahoa 41, Kealakehe 35: Keinan Agonias scored 23 points and Kili Oliveira added 13 as the host Daggers (4-3) won their second in a row to send Kealakehe to a damaging loss.

Abraham Kalavi scored 10 points for the Waveriders (3-5), who fell into fifth place in Division I.

Kealakehe 6 12 3 12 –35

Pahoa 12 8 8 13–41

Waiakea 69, Ka’u 30: Calvin Mattos (16 points) and Louie Ondo (15 points) helped the host Warriors run their unbeaten record to 9-0.

Noah Ferreira and Cameron Carvalho-Chinen had eight apeice.

Jacob Flores led the Trojans (0-7) with 13 points.

Friday/boys

St. Joseph 64, Ka’u 43: The Cardinals won at home to improve to 4-3.

Friday/girls

Kamehameha 54, Hawaii Prep 23: Saydee Aganus scored 16 points in Waimea and the Warriors clinched at least a tie for first in Division II.

Jumping out to a 19-0 lead after the first quarter, Kamehameha (6-3) won for the fourth time in five games. The Warriors can clinch the top seed at BIIFs with a win Friday at Honokaa or if Kohala (4-4) loses either of its two remaining regular-season games. If the Warriors lose to the Dragons and the Cowboys beat Keaau on Tuesday and Hawaii Prep on Thursday, Kohala would be the top seed at BIIFs by virtue of their win Jan. 9 against Kamehameha.

Coco Shafer scored eight points for Ka Makani (0-7), who’s playoff hopes likely hinge on their game Tuesday at Pahoa.

Kealakehe 33, Pahoa 32: Ivana-Kris Galvez netted seven of her 10 points in the third quarter to help the Waveriders to move to 3-5 this season. Nicole Cristobal and Ashlyn Cabatbat combined for 15 points.

Ema Tua had eight for the Daggers (0-9).

The Waveriders need to win Tuesday at Waiakea to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. The Warriors can clinch the final playoff spot in Division I with a victory.
